Big or small, for electronic music or jazz, Teufel offers the right headphones for everyone. Enjoy a large selection of styles and features along with the consistently high-quality sound.
Unlike on-ear headphones which rest snugly on the ear, over-ear headphones envelop the ear entirely. This allows for an especially rich sound and better noise blocking properties. In general, there are three basic over-ear designs: Open, closed and semi-open. Each type of construction will give the headphones a unique sound and effect its noise-blocking properties.
Open headphones have perforated ear cups that allow air to circulate. This makes these headphones poorly suited when it comes to blocking outside noise. On the other hand, those who want to be more aware of their surroundings may find this characteristic to be an advantage. An open design also lends itself to a very transparent and natural sound. Open headphones are therefore great choices for those who love jazz, classical or classic rock. Since open headphones tend to be a bit lighter, they can also be worn for longer periods of time without any pressure points forming and generally have a good, airy feel to them. Teufel’s open over-ear headphones, the REAL PURE,are the ultimate choice for enjoying the true-to-source sound and great comfort.
Closed headphones have sealed ear cups that keep most air – and sound – from entering or exiting the ear cups. This makes the closed headphones ideal for office and other environments where your music should not be heard by everyone in the room. The trade-off is that closed headphones weigh slightly more than open headphones and have a slightly less open and airy sound. They can, however, generate much more powerful and resonant bass. The Teufel MASSIVE is the ultimate closed over-ear headphones for enjoying music with serious bass.
Semi-open headphones strike a compromise between open and closed constructions. Teufel’s REAL PURE, for instance, offers a semi-open design that allows for some movement of air in and out of the ear cups. The result is a transparent sound without too much sound leakage. The REAL BLUE is also able to offer great bass playback -- comparable to the Teufel Massive.
Some of Teufel’s closed headphones offer Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX codec for high definition sound. An optional cable can also be used in between battery charges or on flights. The closed over-ear headphones, the REAL BLUE NC , comes with both Bluetooth and Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology for the effective blocking of noises like the roaring of a jet engine or background commotion during a commute. With the MUTE BT, you’ll be able to enjoy your favourite music within a peaceful sonic oasis.
